Travelers are stranded around New Artisan market, following the collapse of a bridge linking Independence layout, Emene and Garriki.

Those travelling these ends could not crossover to their end with their vehicles for fear of being sunk under the bridge.

Hundreds of travellers were seen crossing over the bridge with their luggage on foot after abandoning their vehicles to continue their journey.

Some commuters and vehicle owners, however, took alternative longer routes to avoid the bridge.

As at the time of filling this report, reason for the bridge collapse is yet unknown.

When Daily Gazette correspondent visited the scene, angry and distressed members of the public, including motorists, commercial tricycles and other road users recounted their ordeals.

Stranded commuters standing on either side of the collapsed bridge, called on the state government to urgently come to their rescue.
