The Kogi State Government has vehemently denied allegations that it orchestrated an attack on witnesses who testified against it at the ongoing Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja.
Reports emerged that some witnesses were assaulted in the Okene area of the state, prompting the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to point fingers at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In response, Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, addressed the media in Lokoja, denouncing the accusations as unfounded and illogical.
Fanwo labeled the SDP’s claims as “reckless” and accused the party of orchestrating a fabricated attack for publicity purposes.
“Why would anyone target a witness who has testified against those who paid him to do so?” questioned Fanwo, emphasizing the absurdity of the allegations.
He asserted that the tribunal case is between the involved parties and suggested that the SDP’s allegations were merely propaganda tactics aimed at tarnishing the state government’s reputation.
Despite the SDP’s claims, Fanwo affirmed that the state government had not received any reports of politically motivated violence and expressed surprise at the baseless accusations.
While emphasizing the government’s commitment to protecting the people and upholding the state’s integrity, Fanwo reiterated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s dedication to serving the people rather than engaging in propaganda.
The Kogi State Government’s response underscores its stance against unsubstantiated allegations and its commitment to ensuring justice and fairness in the ongoing tribunal proceedings.
