In a unanimous decision, Professor Charles Chime has been elected as the substantive Dean of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS).
The announcement came after a Senate meeting on Thursday, March 28, 2024, where all 110 members of the Senate were in attendance, and Professor Chime was elected unopposed.

Having served in an acting capacity since August 2023, Professor Chime brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role as Dean. Fondly referred to as the “Dean of Deans,” he has pledged to lead the SPGS to greater heights and ensure its continued success.
In his acceptance speech, Professor Chime expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the Senate and promised not to disappoint the Vice-Chancellor and the senators. He cited the VC as his role model in driving transformational agendas within ESUT.
During his tenure as acting Dean, Professor Chime spearheaded various initiatives aimed at improving the SPGS. These included the digitalization of the school, facilitating prompt and timely graduation of students, and aligning postgraduate programs with global best practices.
With his election now confirmed, Professor Chime’s innovative and pragmatic leadership is expected to further enhance the SPGS’s reputation and academic excellence.
As he assumes his new role, stakeholders eagerly anticipate the implementation of fresh strategies and initiatives that will propel ESUT’s postgraduate programs to greater success.
