According to sources, the presence of these agitators led to a swift response from security personnel.
However, their efforts to disperse the group proved ineffective until reinforcements arrived.
Members of the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division, along with officers from the state police command and other anti-crime agencies, eventually managed to quell the situation.
Reports indicated that businesses and residents in nearby areas like Bodija, Ikolaba, and Awolowo took precautionary measures by shutting their doors and shops.
Meanwhile, motorists along the affected routes sought alternative paths, leading to traffic diversions and disruptions.
Despite efforts by the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security, CP Sunday Odukoya (retd.), to defuse tensions, the agitators remained steadfast in their desire to hoist their flag within the Secretariat premises.
As of the time of this report, attempts to reach the State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, for comment were unsuccessful.
