The Former Deputy Chairman of Nkanụ West Local Government Area of Enugu state, Hon. Chief Augustine Nnaemeka Nwodo (Odiukon’mba) was on Friday, laid to rest in his country home, Onuafor Aniede Isigwe Village, in Ndiagu Akpugo.
Chief Nwodo, affectionately known as Odiukon’mba, was a titan in the Nkanu political arena, a prominent leader, and a giant who passed-on at the age of 72.

Speaking to Daily Gazette during the burial, one of his sons, Barr. Chimezie O. Nwodo, described his father as an iroko, a beacon of light, and an eagle of inestimable value who epitomized excellence in every aspect of his life.
Late Chief Nwodo’s astute charisma, unwavering dedication, and visionary acumen propelled him to the zenith of political success, where he engraved his name in the annals of history as a trailblazer and titan in his field.
“Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit resonates eternally, serving as a beacon of light and inspiration for generations to come.”
“We find solace in the cherished memories we shared with our father, and his legacies will continue to illuminate our lives with hope, resilience, and love,” he said.
The highlights of the well-attended burial included laying Chief Augustine Nwodo to rest, condolences by friends and well wishers.
Notable political figures in attendance include; Senator Sir. Kelvin Chukwu representing Enugu East senatorial zone, the Minister of Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji; Former Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Power, Chief Sir Chinyeaka Oha, Deputy Chairman of Labour Party in Enugu State, Hon. Dr. Maurice Edeh; Labour Party Woman leader in the state; Enugu State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barr. Ugo Agballah.
