This decision follows a presidential directive, communicated via a State House press release on May 23, 2024, calling for a thorough review of the membership of these governing councils.

The directive has necessitated a rescheduling of the planned events.

Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, issued a statement explaining the government’s actions.

“The Federal Ministry of Education regrets to announce the postponement of the Inauguration and Retreat for Pro-Chancellors, Chairmen, and Members of Governing Councils of Federal Tertiary Institutions,”

“This decision follows the Presidential directive for a comprehensive review of the membership of the Governing Councils of Federal Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria,” Boriowo added.

The Ministry expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and assured stakeholders that further updates will be provided in due course.

“We regret any inconveniences this may cause. Further updates will be communicated in due course,” the statement concluded.
