Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu of the Kano State High Court, has issued a restraining order against the police, State Security Service (SSS), and Nigerian military, prohibiting them from evicting the reinstated Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Advertorial

Emir Sanusi, alongside four kingmakers of Kano—Madakin Kano Yusuf Nabahani, Makaman Kano Ibrahim Sarki Abdullahi, Sarkin Bai Mansur Adnan, and Sarkin Dawaki Maituta Bello Tuta—filed the suit.

In her ruling, Justice Aliyu not only prohibited security agencies from evicting or harassing the emir and his kingmakers but also barred them from interfering with the emir’s personal or official residence, known as Gidan Rumfa.

Additionally, the court ordered the preservation of the emir’s regalia and symbols of authority.

The interim injunction further restrains the respondents from obstructing the emir’s duties pending the resolution of the motion on notice, scheduled for hearing on June 13, 2024.

This legal development follows Justice Aliyu’s previous order for the eviction of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, from the Nassarawa mini palace, as reported by Daily Trust.
