Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has issued stringent restrictions on all public gatherings intended for protests within the state.
In a statement by his Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor directed law enforcement agencies to apprehend, detain, and prosecute individuals or groups participating in street demonstrations in Kano.
The move is a preemptive measure aimed at preventing potential disruptions to law and order orchestrated by opponents of the state.
According to the statement:
“We have credible intelligence indicating that certain prominent figures from the opposition party in Kano plan to sponsor student associations and political agitators from other northwestern states to incite chaos under the guise of advocating for the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.”

The government explicitly prohibits protests, demonstrations, or processions of any kind, and individuals engaging in such activities will be promptly apprehended.
The governor cautioned student groups against being manipulated by troublemakers intent on causing disorder in Kano.
He urged all citizens to continue with their normal activities, assuring that the government will remain vigilant to address any attempts to undermine the state’s peace and stability.
