As the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State approaches, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, has reiterated his commitment to revitalizing the state and liberating it from stagnation.
Senator Okpebholo emphasized his plans to focus on key areas such as security, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic rejuvenation to drive the state’s development.
In a meeting with the Edo community in Washington DC, USA, Senator Okpebholo shared his vision outlined in his manifesto, “Renewed Hope for Edo People.”
He pledged to enhance security, spearhead massive infrastructural projects, attract foreign investments, and ensure affordable healthcare and food security.
Additionally, his plans include improving education, boosting the economy, and promoting tourism and the creative industry.
A significant aspect of his manifesto is the establishment of the Edo Diaspora Agency, aimed at fostering the involvement of Edo indigenes abroad in the state’s development.

Senator Okpebholo acknowledged the vital contributions of the diaspora community and sought their support for his gubernatorial bid.
Following a comprehensive review of his manifesto, the Edo community in Washington DC endorsed Senator Okpebholo. Dr. Mrs. Lizzy Olumese moved the motion for his endorsement, which was seconded by Hon. Tony Igiehon and unanimously supported by the attendees.
The communique issued after the meeting praised Senator Okpebholo’s record as a senator and private citizen, highlighting his contributions to nation-building.
It expressed confidence in his ability to deliver good governance and unite the people of Edo State.
The endorsement was supported by prominent members of Senator Okpebholo’s delegation, including Pastor Andrew Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Emperor Jarret Tenebe, Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, Hon. E. J. Agbonayinma, Chief David Adodo, Professor Guobadia, Pastor Stanley Dave Ighodalo, Lincoln Ibie, and Paddy Emmanuel Iyamu.
