Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has taken a decisive step in the aftermath of the tragic attack on a military checkpoint in Obikabia, Ogbor Hill, Aba, by awarding scholarships to the children of the five soldiers who lost their lives in the incident.
Governor Otti also made a firm commitment to bringing the perpetrators of the attack to justice, declaring his determination to smoke out those responsible for the killing of the soldiers.

During a condolence visit to the headquarters of the 144 Battalion in Asa, Ukwa West council, to express sympathy to the widows of the slain military personnel, Otti reiterated his resolve to pursue justice vigorously.
He pledged to work closely with all security agencies in the state to ensure that those behind the attack are apprehended and brought to book.
The Governor condemned the attack, labeling it as a cowardly act perpetrated by criminals seeking to destabilize the state. He emphasized the need to identify and hold accountable those responsible for the heinous crime.

To support the families of the fallen soldiers, Otti announced automatic scholarships for the children of the deceased soldiers up to the university level.
He further pledged to ensure that the scholarship initiative is enshrined in law by the state House of Assembly, ensuring that successive governments continue to fund the education of the children.
Brigadier General Olusola Diya, the Brigade commander of the 14 Brigade Ohafia, reiterated the military’s commitment to apprehending the perpetrators.
He disclosed that efforts are underway to gather intelligence and bring those connected to the attack to justice.
