The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has elected Professor Romanus Ezeokonkwo as its new acting vice-chancellor.
This announcement was made by the university’s spokesperson, Okwun Omeaku, following the conclusion of the 422nd Senate session in Nsukka on Friday.

Professor Ezeokonkwo, who currently serves as the deputy vice-chancellor for Administration, secured his position with 200 votes.
His competitors, Professor Johnson Urama, the deputy vice-chancellor for Academics, and Professor Daniel Nwachukwu, the deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus, received 180 and 25 votes respectively.
The election was necessitated by the end of the tenure of the outgoing vice-chancellor, Professor Charles Igwe, whose five-year term concludes on June 10.
Born on August 7, 1965, in Nkpologwu, Aguata LGA of Anambra State, Nigeria, Professor Ezeokonkwo is a distinguished academic in the field of Veterinary Parasitology.
He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1990, a Master of Science (MSc) in 1997, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2009, all from UNN.
Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Postgraduate College of Veterinary Surgeons, Nigeria (FCVSN) since 2010 and was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst during the 2001/2002 academic session.
