Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed confidence and calm in the wake of the Appeal Court’s recent decision, which reinstated Martin Amaewhule and 24 other lawmakers to the State House of Assembly.

The court overruled a previous order by a Rivers State High Court that had restrained these lawmakers, who are loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from acting in their official capacities.

The Appeal Court clarified that only the Federal High Court has jurisdiction over such matters concerning the lawmakers.

Despite the ruling, Governor Fubara remains focused on his administration’s agenda, particularly the development of critical infrastructure in the state.

Speaking after inspecting the reconstruction progress at the Zonal Hospital in Bori Town, Khana Local Government Area, Fubara assured that his government’s commitment to the state’s development remains unwavering.

This was conveyed in a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.

Addressing public concerns over the court’s decision, Fubara drew inspiration from Psalm 23:5, stating, “God prepares a table before you in the presence of your enemies.”

He emphasized that despite challenges, his administration is dedicated to delivering on its promises and providing good governance.

Regarding the hospital project in Bori, Fubara noted its significance beyond Khana, benefiting the entire senatorial district, including his constituency, Opobo/Nkoro.

The governor assured residents that the facility would be completed and put to good use.

“We are committed to ensuring that this zonal hospital serves not just Khana, but Gokana, Opobo/Nkoro, and the entire senatorial district. We will see this project through to completion and ensure it is beneficial to all,” Fubara added.
