On Thursday, July 18, the Senate advanced a bill aimed at establishing a federal agency responsible for conducting local government elections in Nigeria.

The “Local Government Independent Electoral Commission (Establishment) Bill, 2024,” sponsored by Senator Sani Musa (APC – Niger East), successfully passed its first reading.
