Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, who was suspended from her role as Abia State’s Commissioner for Health, has officially resigned.
Her resignation letter was delivered to Governor Alex Otti, who had initially suspended her on June 11, 2024, due to allegations of financial misconduct.

In response to the suspension, Governor Otti formed a committee to thoroughly investigate the allegations against Dr. Okoronkwo.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ukoha Njoku, released a statement confirming that Governor Otti accepted Dr. Okoronkwo’s resignation.
He thanked her for her service and for her efforts in enhancing the state’s health sector over the past year.

“The suspended Abia State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, has tendered her resignation letter to the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR. The Governor, while accepting her resignation, thanked Dr. Okoronkwo for her services to our dear state and her modest achievements in repositioning the health sector for better service delivery in the last year. He wished her well in her future endeavors,” the statement read.
