“Our surveillance has detected varied approaches to the planned protests. While some groups are calling for peaceful demonstrations, others are inciting violence, mirroring recent unrest in Kenya,” he said.
He criticized those who, despite advocating for peaceful protests, carry violent agendas.

“Nigeria has experienced violent protests before, and there’s no need to look abroad to understand their risks. We commend those who have withdrawn from the protest due to concerns about underlying violence and ignorance among some leaders,” Egbetokun added.
The IG also addressed those opposed to the protest, affirming their concerns about potential manipulation by adversaries.
“Our intelligence confirms the involvement of foreign mercenaries in these plans. We advise all Nigerians to exercise prudence and reconsider joining any protest group,” Egbetokun warned.
