This survey is noted as the largest-known survey of Black Americans since the Reconstruction era.

Conducted between February 2022 and October 2023, the survey indicates that Harris, as the presumptive Democratic nominee, has a significant edge in gaining support from Black voters over Trump.

The survey was facilitated by 50 Black-led grassroots organizations and national partners, marking a significant increase from the 30,000 responses in the 2018 survey.

Despite concerns about local issues, the survey found lower voter turnout in local elections compared to federal ones.

To address this, organizations like the New Georgia Project plan to use the data to educate voters on the importance of local elections and the impact on their daily lives.

Kristin Powell, Black Futures Lab’s principal, emphasized the importance of this survey in countering stereotypes and showcasing the need for supportive policies that reflect the investments Black Americans make through their taxes.

Natishia June, the field director, reiterated the importance of controlling the political agenda to build power in politics.
