Mujahid Asari-Dokubo has strongly opposed the extension of the planned nationwide protest against economic hardship to the Niger Delta region.

Speaking at the Niger Delta Sensitisation Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Asari-Dokubo criticized the protest organizers, accusing them of not representing the true issues of the Niger Delta.

During the conference themed “Come Let Us Build Together,” Asari-Dokubo rejected the protest, stating that the Niger Delta’s concerns are not addressed by its demands.

He labeled the organizers as “anarchists” who are more interested in the region’s resources than its actual needs.

Asari-Dokubo emphasized his commitment to resisting any protest activities in the Niger Delta, saying, “While everyone has the right to protest, I also have the right to resist. Our rights are not mutually exclusive.”

He referred to previous protests during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure and reiterated his refusal to support current protest actions.

Asari-Dokubo criticized the organizers for ignoring the Niger Delta’s specific needs and exploiting the region’s resources without addressing its problems.

Recalling past clashes with anti-protest groups in Oyigbo, he warned that similar groups would face consequences.

He urged people to disregard superficial rhetoric and pointed out long-standing infrastructure issues in the Niger Delta, such as the absence of hospitals in Buguma and Abonema.

Asari-Dokubo concluded by stressing that the current administration under President Bola Tinubu should not be judged solely on past issues but on tangible improvements and positive impacts on the region.
