The passing of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has profoundly impacted the Nnewi community and Anambra State at large.

In response to the senator’s death, Igwe Kenneth Orizu, the traditional ruler of Nnewi, has announced a three-day mourning period for the community.

Senator Ubah, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and representative of the Anambra South Senatorial zone, died in London on Saturday following his child’s graduation.

He was honored with the chieftaincy title of Ebubechukwuzo and was known for his contributions to the infrastructural development of Nnewi.

Prince Dr. Obi Orizu, Principal Secretary to Igwe Orizu, issued a statement urging both Nnewi residents and non-indigenous community members to join in mourning the late senator.

The traditional ruler has also called upon clergymen from various religious denominations to lead their congregations in prayers for Ubah’s soul.

The mourning period will run from July 30 to August 1.

Chief Modestus Umenzekwe, a notable APC chieftain in the Southeast, noted that Ubah’s death would be felt deeply in Anambra, given his significant contributions and the benefits he provided to many in the community.
