In a shocking attack on Tuesday evening, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers raided ‘King Jesus’ Church off DBS Road in Asaba, Delta State.

The assailants, heavily armed, fatally shot two policemen stationed at the church before abducting Joan Onyemaechi, a prominent community leader known as Ada Anioma.

Witnesses reported that the gunmen opened fire on the police officers guarding the church, killing them on the spot.

They then seized Onyemaechi and fled the scene. The exact motive behind the kidnapping remains unclear, but there are suspicions it may involve a ransom demand.

Attempts to reach the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, for comments were unsuccessful due to an unreachable phone line.

However, an unnamed senior police officer confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are underway to apprehend the perpetrators and secure the release of the abducted leader.

In response to the attack, police authorities have heightened security measures in the area to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of residents.
