Speaking in Jalingo, Taraba State’s capital, during a town hall meeting with stakeholders, Maigari highlighted the distribution of rice and fertilizers to state governors and the approval of a new minimum wage as part of these efforts.

Maigari emphasized that the federal government has released significant quantities of rice and fertilizers directly to governors from all political parties.

“The president directed the release of rice and fertilizers in large quantities directly to state governors, whether they are PDP, APC, or APGA,” he said.

He urged journalists to question the governors on the status and distribution of these supplies, stating, “You should, as journalists and professionals, do your job by asking state governors, starting from our brother here. He has taken delivery of fertilizers the federal government sent to governors, and there is also rice delivered to governors across the country.”

Highlighting other government efforts, Maigari mentioned the new minimum wage law, asserting that these measures aim to provide immediate relief while long-term economic programs are being implemented.

“We are not happy with food shortages, which is why the FG has taken these measures,” he added.

Maigari also addressed the upcoming protest against hunger and hardship, appealing to the youths and pro-protesters to remain focused and avoid being manipulated by divisive elements.

“As a government, we are not against protest because we are democrats, but we are appealing that the youths should be patient and avoid being used by proponents of division,” he said.

In a related appeal, Dr. Aminu Jauro, the Taraba State ALGON Chairman, urged residents to refrain from protesting, praising Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas for his performance.

Jauro listed achievements such as free basic and secondary education, affordable tertiary education, and the implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage, cautioning that protests could undermine these efforts and create an appearance of disunity.

“The proposed protest might undermine these ongoing efforts and paint a picture of disunity at a time when solidarity and support are crucial,” Jauro noted.

He called on various groups within Jalingo to recognize and support the governor’s positive strides by avoiding participation in the protest.

“Let us instead come together to engage in constructive dialogue, work collaboratively, and support the continuous progress of our state,” he urged.
