The Kaduna State Police Command has barricaded the road leading to the Government House in the state capital following Thursday’s violent #EndBadGovernance protests and an attempted attack on the Government House by hoodlums.

On Friday, a combined team of security operatives, including policemen, civil defence members, and state vigilance service personnel, were seen conducting tight surveillance along the road leading to the state’s seat of power.

The barricade aims to prevent hoodlums from accessing the Government House and surrounding communities.

The police have urged parents and guardians to restrain their wards from disturbing the public peace during the protests.

They emphasized the importance of addressing such tendencies seriously.

In a statement, state police spokesman Mansir Hassan advised groups planning to protest to coordinate with the Commissioner of Police to ensure a peaceful demonstration.

“The previously peaceful protest has been hijacked by hoodlums who have taken advantage of faceless sponsors to unleash mayhem on the state,” he said.

“Consequently, these unruly miscreants attempted to gain access to the Kaduna State Government House but were resisted by security personnel, resulting in injuries to two policemen and damage to the police armoured personnel carrier stationed at the Government House entrance.

“They also attacked the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA) office and staff, setting fire to the agency’s office and other nearby state government offices.

“Twenty-five hoodlums were arrested with evidence of their violent intentions. The recovered items included scissors, a jackknife, and live 7.62 X 39mm ammunition found on Hassan Ibrahim from the Rigasa area of Kaduna. Additionally, one suspect was arrested wearing a police camouflage uniform to deceive.”

The police continue to monitor the situation closely to maintain order and protect public safety.
