A military checkpoint on the Amangwu axis of the Amasiri-Owutu-Edda highway in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State was attacked by gunmen early Friday morning.
The Ebonyi Police Command confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria.

DSP Joshua Ukandu, the Police Public Relations Officer, reported that the attack was carried out by suspected gunmen on motorcycles.
Ukandu stated, “The information reaching us from the Owutu Police Division indicates that some hoodlums attacked a military checkpoint early Friday. It is not yet certain if there were casualties.”
