A major fire outbreak has engulfed the Oko Baba plank market in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State.
Emergency responders from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, as well as the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), are currently on the scene working to control the fire and limit its spread.

Reports from witnesses indicate that the fire has consumed several structures in the market, particularly the makeshift shanties that are common in the area.
A social media user, Adedeji Olalekan, posting under the handle #Stylomedia on X (formerly Twitter), shared updates on the incident, stating, “Okobaba Street is on fire now, all the shanties are burning.”
As of the time of reporting, the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage remain unclear.
