Akwa Ibom State has announced that flags will be flown at half-mast across all government buildings and facilities in the state as a mark of respect for the late wife of Governor Pastor Umo Eno, Mrs. Patience Eno, who passed away in the early hours of Friday.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, the death of the First Lady was described as “sad and painful” and a loss felt deeply by the entire state.

Mrs. Patience Eno, who had been battling an illness, passed away peacefully at a hospital on Friday in the presence of her family, as confirmed by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong.

The statement, titled “Unexpected Sunset,” said, “With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, the beloved wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, following an illness.

She passed away peacefully at the hospital on 26th September 2024, surrounded by her family.”

The family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and requested privacy as they mourn the loss of their wife, mother, and grandmother. They also asked for continued prayers during this difficult time.
