Donald Trump on Friday accused Google of skewing search results to only feature negative stories about him, while supposedly highlighting positive coverage of his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Google’s actions amounted to illegal interference in elections, promising to press charges against the tech giant if he returns to the White House.

He added, “This is an ILLEGAL ACTIVITY, and hopefully, the Justice Department will criminally prosecute them for this blatant Interference of Elections.”
Trump also stated, “If not, and subject to the Laws of our Country, I will request their prosecution, at the maximum levels, when I win the election.”
The former president’s remarks followed a report from a conservative group, which claimed that a search for “Donald Trump presidential race 2024” revealed a biased pattern.

In response, Google denied manipulating search results, explaining that both campaign websites appeared at the top of relevant searches, and suggesting the report examined only a rare search term on a single day.
While Google has maintained that its search engine operates without political bias, the company has yet to disclose the details of the algorithm that determines search rankings.
Known factors that influence results include the relevance, timeliness, and popularity of the topic.
Trump is currently embroiled in several criminal and civil cases, facing accusations related to sexual misconduct, payments to a porn star, and efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
