The Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has instructed the leadership of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries to carefully vet testimonies shared by its members during gatherings.

This directive follows a recent viral testimony in which a member claimed an old man appeared to her in an exam hall and provided answers, which she shared with another student from the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries.

CAN Chairman, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, condemned the testimony, labeling it as a fabrication, and announced a meeting with the church to address the matter.

He confirmed that the meeting had taken place at the CAN secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, where church representatives were urged to change the way testimonies are handled.

According to Adegbite, CAN, alongside its five bloc leaders and coordinators from 57 local government areas, unanimously agreed that testimonies which are unreasonable or misleading would not be tolerated.

He emphasized that church leaders should screen testimonies before members are allowed to share them publicly.

“We made it clear that testimonies must be truthful and not bring disrepute to the name of Christ. Miracles still happen, but we must always speak the truth,” Adegbite added.
