The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Conference of National Ex-Officio members has issued a stern warning to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), stating that any attempt to postpone the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled for October 24, 2024, will exacerbate the ongoing crisis within the party.
The group expressed concerns over the deepening internal rifts within the PDP leadership and emphasized the urgent need for the NEC meeting to hold as planned.

In a statement signed by representatives from all six geopolitical zones, including Dr. Yunana Ilya (North Central), Dr. Nicholas Mshelia (North East), Chief Madu Chinemerem (South East), Chief Patrick Agbe (South South), Chief Faboyede Clement (South West), and Alhaji Ibrahim Alhaji (North West), the ex-officio members voiced their growing concern about the current state of affairs in the party, describing recent events as dangerous and potentially destabilizing.

The statement read, “As an integral part of the NEC of our great party and one of its last bastions with the grassroots, we have critically analyzed the situation and dispassionately resolved to call on the leadership of the party to ensure that the NEC meeting scheduled for October 24, 2024, takes place.
This meeting will provide an opportunity for aggrieved members to voice their concerns and seek resolutions.”
The ex-officio members also highlighted that the PDP Constitution mandates NEC meetings at least once every quarter, lamenting that this provision has not been adhered to in recent times.

They stressed that delaying the meeting would deny party members the platform to address their grievances, potentially leading to further divisions within the PDP.
The group also praised the efforts of the PDP Governors’ Forum, led by Governor Bala Mohammed, and urged the NWC to align with these peace-building initiatives to restore unity and stability in the party.
