The Enugu State Police Command has arrested 67-year-old Uwakwe Eze and a 48-year-old native doctor, Enuwa Odugu, over the alleged murder of Eze’s son, Chikwado Celestine Eze.
Chikwado, aged 26, recently obtained a visa to travel abroad and reportedly sought spiritual protection at the native doctor’s shrine ahead of his journey.
The tragic incident drew widespread attention on social media, with many expressing shock at the circumstances of his death.

DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesperson for the Enugu State Police Command, revealed that “during the ritual, Chikwado was placed inside a coffin as part of a fortification process. However, the ritual went wrong, and Chikwado died during the process. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed his death. The body has since been moved to a mortuary for an autopsy.”
“The native doctor, Enuwa Odugu, has confessed to performing the ritual, admitting that Chikwado’s death was due to his failure to follow specific instructions tied to the ritual. Odugu also disclosed that he had conducted similar rituals in the past.”

DSP Ndukwe stated that the police are currently investigating the case, and the suspects are expected to face charges in court after the investigation is completed.
