The Nigeria Police Force has addressed circulating claims about police recruits enduring substandard training conditions, stating that the viral video in question is over a decade old.
In a statement released on Saturday by Assistant Commissioner of Police and Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police clarified that the footage, originally aired by Channels Television, depicts the training environment at the Police Training College in Ikeja from more than ten years ago.

The statement explained that the then federal government took action to address the issues highlighted in the report, implementing repairs and improving the feeding conditions for trainees at the college.
The police emphasized that significant advancements have occurred since that time, noting various leadership changes within the Nigeria Police Force that have led to improvements in training and personnel welfare.

The police expressed concern that the re-emergence of the video appears to be a deliberate attempt by “mischief makers” to misrepresent the current state of the police system and undermine its authority.
