Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has pledged that no part of the state will be ceded to any neighboring states during his tenure.
Speaking on Friday at a meeting with representatives of Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, including traditional rulers, technocrats, and government officials, Abiodun assured the people of his commitment to safeguarding the state’s boundaries.
The meeting, held at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, focused on concerns raised by reports of territorial incursions into Ogun State from Lagos and Ondo states.
In particular, disputes over land in areas like Ode-Omi and Makun were discussed.
Prof. Segun Awonusi, a former Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, who attended the meeting, shared that the governor had taken immediate note of these incursions and promised to take decisive action to ensure that no part of Ogun is lost to any other state.
Awonusi added, “The governor has assured us that he will provide adequate security to protect our land and ensure peace for our people.”
Abdul Balogun, a former Commissioner for Environment, also spoke at the meeting, highlighting Abiodun’s commitment to improving infrastructure in the local government area.
Balogun revealed that the governor had assured the immediate rehabilitation of the Dau-Ibiade-Abigi-Efire-Makun-Ilisin road and expressed a strong resolve to restore electricity to areas that have been without power for the last three years.
Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing security, infrastructural challenges, and the welfare of Ogun State residents.
