The wife of Nigeria’s President, Oluremi Tinubu, along with former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, state governors, and other prominent figures, attended the funeral of Akwa Ibom’s First Lady, the late Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, on Friday.
During the funeral service in Ikot Ekpeneudo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Oluremi Tinubu described the deceased as a woman of great faith and courage, urging her children to uphold her legacy.
Representing President Tinubu, the wife of the Vice President, Nana Kashim Shettima, expressed that Patience deserved to be celebrated.
“The first time I met her, I saw firsthand the kind of person Pastor Patience Umo Eno was—a woman of courage and faith, a caring soul. She truly deserves to be celebrated. We are all going to miss her, but we trust in God’s plan. There is a time for everything,” she said, offering prayers and comfort to the grieving family.
Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Umo Eno, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from across the nation, particularly from President Tinubu, who had sent a condolence message, and from Oluremi Tinubu, who led a delegation of governors’ wives and ministers’ wives to the state.
“We are overwhelmed by the love and support we’ve received, especially from the President and the First Lady, who have been there for us. This show of solidarity gives us strength, and we thank everyone who has reached out,” Governor Eno said.
The governor also urged Nigerians to unite in support of President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing that the nation’s collective effort is vital to achieving prosperity.
Reflecting on the loss of his wife, Governor Eno acknowledged that her influence had grown even greater after her death. He promised to continue the work she started, vowing to honor her memory by doubling efforts in the development of the state and maintaining the values she stood for.
“We will continue to work hard for the people of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria, ensuring that her legacy lives on,” he said.
