kidnappers have shot and killed Apostle Ranti Ige-Daniel, a clergyman from the Royal Assembly Sanctuary in Lagos, in the Isanlu community of Yagba East Local Government Area, Kogi State.

The incident occurred on Thursday night, just a few kilometers from Isanlu, after the clergyman had attended a revival crusade in the area.

According to reports, Apostle Ige-Daniel, originally from Mopa, was traveling with three others on the Idofin to Makutu road when the gunmen ambushed his vehicle.

The attackers set up a roadblock around 8:30 pm, and when the pastor’s car approached, they opened fire, killing him instantly.

The gunmen then abducted the three passengers in the car, which included a woman believed to be the pastor’s fiancée, and fled into the bush.

A family source claimed that the pastor succumbed to his injuries and bled to death in the hands of the abductors as they took him into the bush along with the other hostages.

Rev. Dr. Francis Iselowo, a family friend, confirmed that Apostle Ige-Daniel and his companions were en route to a burial ceremony in Isanlu when the tragic attack occurred.

He revealed that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N10 million per person for the release of the hostages.

As at the time of this report, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Williams Aya, had not responded to calls or messages seeking comment on the incident.
