The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has arrested two individuals, Emmanuel Linus and Moses Daniel, for posing as officers of the Nigerian Army.

The suspects, dressed in full military camouflage, were apprehended on November 30, 2024, around 2 pm in Abuja.

FCT Police Commissioner, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, revealed the arrest on Tuesday, noting that during questioning, Linus presented a counterfeit military identification card, which falsely listed his birthdate as December 20, 2024.

Further investigation revealed that Linus was part of a larger criminal syndicate involved in defrauding people by using fake bank alerts to purchase goods and services.

The police have initiated a probe into the case and are working to identify and capture other members of the syndicate.

Additionally, six suspects connected to ‘one-chance’ robbery operations were arrested by the State Intelligence Department (SID) operatives.

One of the suspects, Ibrahim Kabiru, was apprehended during a routine patrol along Ahmadu Bello Way after his suspicious vehicle was stopped.

A search of his vehicle uncovered several items, including a POS machine, a knife, scissors, two mobile phones, and a female luggage.

The police also recovered seven vehicles with tinted windows, which the ‘one-chance’ robbery groups allegedly used during their criminal activities.
