A UK court has sentenced Urfan Sharif, 43, and Beinash Batool, 30, to life in prison for the murder of 10-year-old Sara Sharif, their British-Pakistani daughter, who died following a sustained period of horrific abuse.
The pair were sentenced on Tuesday at the Old Bailey in London, after being found guilty of the girl’s murder.
Sara’s body was discovered with severe injuries, including bruises, bites, broken bones, and burns, revealing the extent of the abuse she endured.
Judge statements during the sentencing indicated that Sharif would serve at least 40 years and Batool at least 33 years before being eligible for parole.
The court described the abuse as “despicable” and “tragic.”
