Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, on Monday, presented the 2025 budget proposal to the State House of Assembly, amounting to ₦756 billion.

The budget, valued at ₦755,588,041,220, was named the “Budget of Expanded Economic Opportunities.”

In his presentation, Governor Uzodimma highlighted the achievements of his administration over the past five years and reiterated his dedication to transforming Imo State under the ‘Shared Prosperity’ mandate.

“There are ongoing efforts to rehabilitate and expand critical infrastructure, particularly the construction of rural roads across all three senatorial zones, alongside efforts to provide 24/7 electricity supply through the Imo State Electricity Distribution (ISED) project,” Uzodimma noted.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to the dredging of Oguta Lake and Orashi River to create a connection to the Atlantic Ocean.

Uzodimma further revealed plans to hand over schools to religious organizations in 2025 as part of his strategy to improve the education sector.

On agriculture, the governor emphasized the development of the Achara Ugbu Farmland in Owerri North Local Government Area for large-scale agricultural production to promote food security.

Additionally, he promised support for the Ada Palm project to increase palm oil production.

“We are also focused on modernizing key markets such as Eke Ukwu Owerri Market and revitalizing industrial hubs, including the Onitsha Industrial Layout, with similar projects in Orlu and Okigwe,” he added.

The governor also announced plans to develop new housing estates and collaborate with developers to improve housing across the state.
