The police in Anambra State have successfully recovered the vehicle of Mr. Justice Azuka, the lawmaker representing Onitsha North Constituency 1 in the state’s House of Assembly, who was abducted on December 24.
The police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Onitsha on Thursday.
Ikenga explained that the recovery came after an intensive operation by the Inland Town Division of the Anambra Police Command.
The lawmaker was kidnapped by armed men around 9:20 pm on December 24 while traveling home along Ugwunabampa Road in Onitsha.
The vehicle was later found abandoned on Upper Iweka Road by the police’s rescue team.
Ikenga further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nnaghe Itam, has directed the rescue team to increase efforts aimed at rescuing the lawmaker and apprehending the criminals responsible for the abduction.
