The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has stated it is unaware of an alleged fraud involving N180 million linked to an NGO owned by social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
In a video posted on Instagram on Friday, Otse claimed that his NGO’s bank account was hacked, leading to the theft of over N180 million.
He mentioned that a suspect had been apprehended, and measures were taken to freeze the account in order to prevent further breaches.
However, in a statement issued on Saturday, the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, clarified that they had no information on the incident.
She stated, “The FCT Police Command is not aware of any case involving VDM’s missing funds and is not conducting any investigation into it. The individual in question should be contacted to clarify where the matter was reported, as there is no record of such a case with the FCT Police Command.”
In October, Otse launched the Martins Vincent Otse Initiative, which garnered significant donations, including N35 million within hours of its launch and a notable N100 million contribution from music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, known as Don Jazzy.
