Former Kaduna State Governor and founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has dismissed claims that he has defected to the opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The rumors, which gained traction on social media platforms, particularly X, sparked a flurry of speculation, with some suggesting that El-Rufai’s move was a surprise that caught many off guard.
One X user remarked, “They said El-Rufai is full of surprises, and his enemies always don’t see him coming. If this picture of El-Rufai joining PDP is true, then indeed Mallam is full of surprises because no one expected this. I urge President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani to start writing his handover notes.”
On Sunday, El-Rufai took to his official X account to refute the claims, labeling them as “patent lies.” He also issued a warning of legal action against those spreading the false information.
He wrote, “Please disregard the patent lies and rumours about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers.”
