President Bola Tinubu will travel to Accra, Ghana, on Monday to attend the inauguration of John Mahama as the President-elect on January 7, 2025.

Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s president from 2011 to 2017, was reelected in December 2024 and will succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Tinubu’s visit comes at the invitation of Mahama, who had visited the Nigerian president in December 2024.

The two leaders share a longstanding personal relationship, which mirrors the strong bilateral ties between Nigeria and Ghana.

As the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Tinubu will join other African leaders in attending the inauguration ceremony.

He will be accompanied by Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and other senior government officials.
