An Ojo Magistrates’ Court has granted bail in the sum of N500,000 to Sunday Babatunde, a sales representative accused of stealing N5.3 million from his employer.
Babatunde, 34, faced a charge of breach of trust before Magistrate L.K.J. Layeni. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate set the bail at N500,000, with two sureties in the same amount, and adjourned the case until February 5, 2025, for mention.
According to the prosecution, Babatunde committed the alleged theft between November and December 2024 at Mamuda Foods Company Ltd in Ikeja, Lagos State.
The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, claimed that Babatunde unlawfully converted N5.34 million proceeds from goods entrusted to him into his own possession without the company’s approval.
The offence, Uche said, contravenes section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
