President Bola Tinubu has instructed Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, to revive the Nigeria Air Project.
Additionally, he tasked Kana with improving the operations and standards of Nigerian airports.
Kana shared the president’s directives during a meeting with heads of agencies and staff members of the aviation ministry in Abuja.
He explained that he had received clear instructions from both President Tinubu and the Head of Service of the Federation, with two primary objectives to achieve during his tenure.
“The President’s mandate is very clear: firstly, to ensure the establishment of Air Nigeria, and secondly, to clean up and improve the state of our airports,” Kana said.
“There is no better time to bring Air Nigeria to life than now.”
He further emphasized that his top priority, alongside Minister Festus Keyamo, is to implement the President’s renewed hope agenda for aviation, with a strong focus on benefiting Nigerians.
Kana assured that the Nigeria Air Project would be realized swiftly, and that efforts to overhaul airport operations would be accelerated to meet global best practices.
He stressed the importance of creating a seamless and welcoming experience for passengers at Nigerian airports.
“Our goal is to ensure that passengers feel at ease, with smooth transitions as they move through our airports,” Kana stated.
“Our vision is to launch a national carrier during President Tinubu’s administration.”
