Nigerian comedian and entertainer, Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, popularly known as Carter Efe, has left fans anxious after sharing a cryptic post suggesting he might “leave the earth” on January 10.
The 23-year-old, famous for his viral skits and the popular song “Machala” dedicated to Wizkid, posted the message on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, January 7, 2024.
The message, “Might leave this earth January 10th,” was accompanied by a heartbroken emoji, raising alarm among his followers.
One fan, @YKoluwaseun, attempted to lighten the mood by asking, “If you leave, who go dey give us mid skit?” However, Carter’s reply seemed to intensify concerns, as he responded, “It’s funny now until you lose me, and you will later regret.”
The post generated a wide range of reactions. Some followers urged Carter Efe to be careful with his words, expressing worry over the emotional toll of such statements.
Fans like @phlexyl and @beri_grizou made jokes about his content, asking, “Who’s gonna be there to spit on the camera now?” and “Maybe draw the line on jokes, since you can’t draw it on your hairline.”
On the other hand, some fans criticized the post, with @TheDamiForeign calling it a clout-chasing stunt, especially in light of Carter’s new song, which they doubted would make a significant impact on the charts.
Others took a more reflective approach. @Adeomo_ola reminded the public of the unpredictability of life, noting that “Everyone’s gonna die one day, bro .Even your January 10 might not be it—God’s plans are different.”
The conversation took a darker turn when @Energycrypt speculated that Carter Efe might have been involved in a ritual, asking, “Wait… did you do some ritual in 2020?”
In a more serious vein, @celebrityhonour drew comparisons to tragic incidents involving artists like Dagrin and Mohbad, highlighting how similar remarks made by them were overlooked before their untimely deaths.
This raised further concern about the possible underlying message behind Carter Efe’s post.
