A new report from the World Economic Forum (WEF) predicts that by 2030, artificial intelligence (AI) could displace 92 million jobs, approximately 8% of the global workforce, as automation continues to transform industries.

The report highlights that 41% of employers worldwide expect to downsize their workforce due to the increasing integration of AI technologies.

Roles such as graphic designers and legal secretaries are already being replaced by generative AI tools that can perform tasks once handled by humans.

At the same time, the WEF identifies AI and big data as the fastest-growing skill areas, with networks, cybersecurity, and technology literacy closely following.

However, the report also underscores a significant challenge: many workers lack the skills necessary to adapt to these changing job roles.

While job losses are expected, the WEF forecasts that AI will create new job opportunities as well.

Employers anticipate the emergence of 170 million new roles by 2030, leading to a net job growth of 7%, or 78 million jobs globally.

Furthermore, businesses are focusing on retraining efforts, with 77% of employers planning to train their current staff to work alongside AI technologies.

The WEF concludes that while AI will undoubtedly enhance productivity, it is critical for workers to receive the necessary support and training to adjust to these changes.

Without such efforts, millions may face job displacement.
