A filling station in Ibeagwa Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area, was engulfed in flames on Monday.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but a video circulating on social media shows a tanker, believed to be unloading fuel at the station, caught in the blaze.

In the viral footage obtained by DAILY GAZETTE, a voice can be heard criticizing the local government administration for allowing filling stations to be located in areas too close to residential buildings and businesses.

The speaker expressed concern over the dangers posed by such installations in densely populated neighborhoods, calling it a potential disaster waiting to happen.

The voice also called on the Chairman of Enugu East Local Government, Hon. Beloved Dan Anike, to take immediate action to address the problem and ensure that safety standards are adhered to when granting approvals for the establishment of filling stations in residential areas.
