Samuel Anyanwu And Ude-Okoye,

The leadership dispute over the National Secretary position in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a significant turn, as the party has received a stay of execution order halting the enforcement of an earlier Appeal Court ruling that removed Senator Samuel Anyanwu from office.

In a press briefing held in Abuja, PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed that the party was legally bound to comply with the new court order.

The order, issued by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Maitama on January 15, restrains the PDP from implementing the Appeal Court’s decision which had recognized Ude Okoye as the National Secretary.

Abdullahi explained that the suit was filed by Imo State PDP Chairman, Austine Nwachukwu, through his counsel, and further emphasized the party’s commitment to abiding by the court’s ruling.

“We are a law-abiding party, and as such, we must respect this order,” he said.

He urged all PDP members to remain calm and respectful of the ongoing legal process, awaiting a final resolution in the upcoming court hearings scheduled for January 8 and February 5.

Abdullahi also called on the party to focus on constitutionalism and the rule of law, cautioning against being swayed by political motives or internal divisions.

He reiterated the importance of maintaining unity and discipline within the party, regardless of the ongoing leadership dispute.
