A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip is set to take effect on Sunday at 8:30 AM local time (0630 GMT), according to Qatar, which played a key role in brokering the agreement.
The ceasefire marks a significant step towards ending the ongoing conflict, which has led to widespread devastation in the region.
Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesman, Majed al-Ansari, confirmed the timing of the truce and urged residents to exercise caution and follow official instructions.
Although the exact time had been uncertain, Israel’s cabinet had approved a deal for the exchange of hostages and prisoners earlier on Saturday, with no prisoners scheduled for release before 2:00 PM GMT.
The ceasefire is part of an agreement aimed at halting the fighting and facilitating the release of hostages, as well as prisoners on both sides.
