Kidnappers in Anambra State have shown defiance toward Governor Chukwuma Soludo by abducting a person just a day after the launch of the state’s new security initiative, ‘Operation Udo ga achi.’
The victim was taken from Aku village in the Ezinifitte community, located in the Aguata local government area.
According to the victim’s cousin, the abduction took place around 11 pm on Sunday, with the kidnappers driving the victim around in his own vehicle while negotiating a ransom.
Fortunately, the victim was released the following morning by 7 am, but not before suffering significant financial loss.
The cousin revealed that the victim’s bank account had been drained via a POS transaction linked to a MoniePoint account.
“Thankfully, he was released this morning, but it came at a heavy price. His account was emptied through a POS transaction,” the cousin said.
“I am truly grateful for all the prayers, messages, and offers of support during this trying time.”
While the exact ransom amount has not been disclosed, the victim’s cousin called for any tips on recovering funds lost in such situations.
As at the time of this report, the state police command has not issued a statement regarding the incident.
