On Friday, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa revealed that notorious terrorist leader, Bello Turji has expressed his readiness to surrender.

Following recent military strikes that eliminated Turji’s second-in-command and several lieutenants, General Musa noted that Turji has been left with few followers, indicating his willingness to give up arms.

“Many of the terrorists are still within the communities, and people often spot them before we can get the information. By the time we act, they have already moved,” General Musa explained in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“But I can confirm that we’ve taken out his second in command and most of his top lieutenants. In fact, he’s now forced to release many of those who were under him. He is now saying that he no longer wants to fight and is ready to surrender.”

Despite Turji’s alleged willingness to give up, General Musa emphasized that anyone who has been involved in killing innocent citizens must face justice.

“We are determined to eliminate all those responsible for the killings. Individuals like Turji must not be allowed to remain free,” he said.

The military’s assault on Turji’s group continued on Wednesday, with Operation Fansan Yamma troops neutralizing Turji’s second-in-command, Aminu Kanawa.

According to a statement by Defence Director Edward Buba, other key figures from Turji’s network, including his brother Dosso and close ally Danbokolo, were severely injured in the operation.

The statement further confirmed that the military had neutralized several other high-ranking members of Turji’s group, including Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, Basiru Yellow, Kabiru Gebe, Bello Buba, and Dan Inna Kahon-Saniya-Yafi-Bahaushe.

Additionally, over 24 fleeing terrorists from Turji’s camp in Sokoto and Zamfara states were reportedly neutralized.
