The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two additional suspects involved in the kidnapping of Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Hakeem Odumosu.

The suspects, identified as 27-year-old Agbojule Smart and 30-year-old Keleke Michael, were arrested by officers from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad, according to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, on Friday.

The arrest occurred early Friday, January 24, 2025, as the suspects attempted to flee Lagos State.

During their detention, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the crime, revealing they were part of a four-member gang.

Two of the gang members had already been neutralized prior to this arrest.

The police recovered a significant amount of evidence, including N2.25 million, two locally-made rifles, and 11 live cartridges.

The money was part of the ransom demanded for the release of Mrs. Odumosu, who was kidnapped last Thursday in the Arepo area of Ogun State.

The kidnappers had forcefully removed Mrs. Odumosu from her Lexus SUV at her residence and transported her through a swampy area before taking her to an unknown location.

She was later rescued by Nigeria Police operatives on Wednesday.

In a statement, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun congratulated the operatives for their successful operation and commended their commitment to ensuring justice.

The IGP reassured the public of the police’s dedication to enhancing public safety and reducing crime.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, led the rescue operation, during which some of the suspects were reportedly neutralized.
