A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has been severely beaten into a coma by hoodlums in Kwara State.

The incident occurred during the turbaning ceremony of a newly appointed traditional titleholder in Ilọrin.

Eyewitnesses report that the officer, a mother of one, was allegedly assaulted by the hoodlums who were upset that she was stopping them from extorting money from a former House of Representatives member.

According to one witness, the attackers left her with severe facial and hand injuries, and she was later rushed to a hospital where she regained consciousness.

A second eyewitness shared that the officer’s colleague attempted to fire a weapon in retaliation, but was stopped by another officer due to the sensitive nature of the environment, as the incident took place near the Emir’s palace in Ilọrin.

However, when contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Ayoola Michael, downplayed the incident, claiming it was a “minor accident” that occurred during the ceremony.

Michael explained that the officer was in a moving vehicle when she accidentally missed her step and fell while the hoodlums were trying to collect money from the former politician.
